Kate Brodie makes short experimental documentaries and abstract films that are vibrant, fresh and often humorous. Her abstract works employ a variety of experimental techniques and demonstrate a fascination with the ability of the camera and digital editing to render the ordinary and mundane extraordinary. Her documentary films present intimate portraits of subjects that offer up a space for reflection rather than dictating a particular view. Rhythm and repetition feature as recurring motifs whilst thematically her work is concerned with exploring notions of home, domesticity, the family, childhood and the community within contemporary culture.
